Interesting Variations To Play

Single Ball Game

A single ball game can be played between two, three or four players, each player having their own ball.

When the order of play is determined, the game proceeds as the fourteen point game, except in this game, the winner is the first player to score seven points.

The difficulty here is, if a player cannot continue, he should leave the balls in such a position as to make play as hard as possible for the following player.

A degree of difficulty shot must be used in the single ball game if no player has scored more than two points.

Optional Degree Of Difficulty Shot

The Optional Degree of Difficulty Shot only applies to the fourteen point game.

Therefore, if a player or team goes to the peg with either of their balls (and at that time is in front of the opposition) that player may elect to finish the game by playing the Degree of Difficulty Shot:

ie. place the pegged out ball on the outer side of their first hoop and shoot at their sixth hoop.
if the hoop is made - the game is won
if the hoop is not made - the player forfeits the last three points and the clip is placed on their fifth hoop.

The game then resumes.

The degree of Difficulty Shot can only be played once in any game.

One Shot Q-Ball (Similar to Golf Croquet)

Game starts with 2, 3, or 4 players each having one ball. In the case of 2 players they may choose to play one or two balls each. Order of play must be from opposite ends.

  1. The game is played by each player running 6 hoops in in a clockwise direction, starting at the hoop that is marked with the same colour as the ball being played.
  2. Strategies emerge, as players can only have one shot, so opposition can shoot at any other ball and knock it from in front of the hoop or shoot their ball in front of another ball to stop it from scoring.
  3. There are clips that indicate which hoop each ball is to make next. The blue and black clips are placed on top of the hoops and the red and yellow clips are placed on the upright of the hoop.
  4. When the 6 hoops are made the player can then peg out that ball {i.e. play the ball onto the peg} and win the game.

Two Shot Q-Ball (Similar to Ricochet)

The Two Shot game is the same as the One Shot with the difference being: a player can shoot to the front of the hoop and take another shot to make the hoop or can knock the opposition ball from in front of the hoop and can then take another shot to set up or run the hoop.

Pirates (Great Fun Game)

1. Goal is to score 15 points.
2. Maximum of 4 players.
3. Order of play must be from opposite ends.
4. Each hoop scores (1) point, hoops scored in any order and direction except can't be scored in opposite direction in next shot.
5. If a player shoots and hits another players ball he/she scores (1) point and also takes that players score.
6. When a players ball has been hit he/she must start again in turn.
7. If a player is not in position to score a hoop or hit opposition he/she should shoot to safe position.
8. When a players score reaches (10) that score is secured and cannot be taken.
9. If a player has (14) points he may gain the extra point to win the game by hitting the peg.
10. If needed time limit can be placed on this game so the player in front at time wins.
