Q Ball

Play Croquet Indoors on a Table Similar to 8 Ball or Pool

The Rules of Croquet generally apply here, but some changes were introduced to enable a compact, faster game.

Q-BALL 14 POINT GAME RULES

The game is played by each player running 6 hoops in a clockwise direction, starting at the hoop that is marked with the same colour as the ball being played.

When the 6 hoops are made the player can then peg out that ball (ie play the ball onto the peg).

The game is won as soon as both balls (red & yellow OR black and blue) have each made the 6 hoops and pegged out both balls, ie have made 14 points, (1 point per hoop and 1 point for the peg for each ball).

1. The game is started by the winner of a coin toss choosing:
    a) to go in either 1st or 2nd, OR
    b) to choose which colour ball to play with.

2. The loser of the toss can decide the remaining alternatives.

3.a) the players of black & blue start from the bottom boundary and the players of red & yellow start from the top boundary and they play their balls in, in whichever order they choose.
b) in a doubles game each player can only use one coloured ball to strike.

4. Players can start making hoops from their first shot.

5. After all 4 balls are played into the game the players can decide which ball can be played at the start of each turn.

6. If a player hits another ball with his ball he will:
    a) Place his ball against the ball he hit and take another shot, and
    b) After that shot, take another free shot.

7. A player can hit each of the other balls on the table ONCE between making each hoop thus earning additional free shots to keep the turn going and making hoops.

8. A player will also be entitled to a free shot every time a hoop is made.

9. A players turn ends:
    a) if a hoop is not made or another ball is not hit
    b) if, when a 2 ball shot is played, either ball goes out of bounds
    c) if a wrong ball is played
    d) if an air shot is played or the player double taps the strikers ball
    e) if, during a shot, the players clothes or body touches another ball.

10. If a ball goes out of bounds the ball is replaced on the table edge at the place where it left the table, and (other than in a 2 ball shot) the turn continues.

11. There are clips that indicate which hoop each ball is to make next. The black & blue clips are placed on the top of the hoops and the red & yellow clips are placed on the upright of the hoop.

12. A ball goes out of bounds when it falls into the gutter around the perimeter of the table.

13. If a player, at the start of their turn, finds that the opponent has completely wired the ball they wish to play from ALL other balls on the table, they then are entitled to LIFT that ball and play it from either end of the table as they choose.

14. A player may PEEL any other ball through a hoop at any time.

15. Hoops may ONLY be made in a clockwise direction and in their correct order.

16. A ball that is pegged out is removed from the game.
