Background Information
Here we will explain to you how
this new table-top game of skill is rapidly increasing in popularity every day.
This site is designed to show you how the game was developed, it's history,
variations and (of course), how to play.
Played on a unique table top which is adjustable for a variety of ages and
playing positions from small children and Wheelchair-bound players, right up to
adults.
How is it played?
This game uses standard pool balls and cues, and the
playing surface is synthetic, with the hoops already in place. When not in use
as a playing surface, the table-top can be 'flipped' over to reveal a handsome
piece of furniture for use as a Dining or Coffee table.
Similar in some respects to a full-sized game of Croquet, which is played on
grass courts, the table-top version proves to be a game of skill which becomes
more and more entertaining as the strategies of play begin to emerge with
experience.
How did it eventuate?
John Philpott, championship Croquet player and the game's creator, wanted to
take the game to the masses and make it easy for them to learn the fundamentals
of the game. He realised that the best way to increase popularity was to make
the game easy for all to play. This meant creating a home version that required
little or no set-up.
The Breakthrough...
When John invented and patented the unique leg design, he discovered the
additional benefits of a multi-purpose table that could be flipped over and be
appreciated when not in normal use as a playing surface.
By simply re-configuring the legs,
the height of the table can be adjusted in many ways... not just for players of
differing heights and disabilities (it can be set lower for wheelchair-bound
players to enjoy). The entire arrangement transforms into a piece of furniture
which can be converted into a Dining Table, Coffee Table or occasional table in
minutes.
